Just wanted to open the discussion on the subject of "secure" computing and how developers of Linux will be planning for more enhancements in this area.

After reading Microsoft's article on Pallidium, it makes compelling talk of these new encryption information protecting features.

So, if you have ideas or information to how Linux development will/may progress. By all means, take the floor and mention it.

Thanks,

Gary

Open source software and security has always been an interesting combination. Microsoft would have us believe that because its open source it gives hackers an oportunity to exploit errors in the code. While this is true it gives maintainers many sources of feedback its almost a question of whats better black or white box testing.

Really it comes down to the vigelance of the users/maintainers <p name=&quot;flamebait&quot;>I think the deciding factor here is the maintainers of the closed source solutions get paid.

Ultimately I don't think there is such a thing as a secure computer system. The only think we have is good enough. Developers keep raising the bar and hackers keep getting over it. &quot; There are no stupid questions, just lots of inquisitive idiots&quot; - anon
