Can anyone just give me an example how to identify inside and outside ip. I mean how do i know which is inside and outside ip.

My ISP provider has provided me the static IP 203.49.191.212
Starting IP Address 192.168.0.2
Ending IP Address 192.168.0.254
=================================================
Thanks to everyone

The outside IP address is the one that your ISP gives you and is globally routable on the internet. In your case it's 203.49.191.212.

From your LAN range, 192.168.0.0 /24 you can assign an address for the inside interface which connects to your LAN.

Chris.

Thanks for your reply.
I understood after reading your clear responce. I have small doubt, can you please tell me what is /24. Why is it /24 why not other numbers.

Thanks

/24 just means that the netmask is 255.255.255.0, ie. 24 bits in the subnet mask.

/24 255.255.255.0
/25 255.255.255.128
/26 255.255.255.192
/27 255.255.255.224
/28 255.255.255.240
/29 255.255.255.248
/30 255.255.255.252

If you google 'CIDR' you can investigate this further.

Chris.
