Why do i have power profiles 3 times and my virus scanner twice in my startup?

Lvcom: Part of Logitech QuickCam, not needed

Loadpowerprofile: Starts your power management, leave it

Stillimagemonitor: Associated with USB scanner, not required

Nvcpldeamon: Can't track it down but would say it is part of Nvidea drivers, leave it

Nwiz: Associated with the newer versions of Nvidia graphics
cards drivers. Allows you to immensely improve desktop
layouts by setting preferences and optimizations.
However, this isn't necessary for the operation of your system.

It is common for entries to appear more than once, not quite sure why but you will find if you uncheck the duplicates they will reappear.

thankyou 1 and all for your help! now that i know what is what i can make an informed choice as to what to leave on and shut off. my pwoer profile seems to mess things up as for the rest i have already shut them off. 3/4 of the items in my startup are off and my system runs much better with less crashes. with and amd k7 1300, 256mb 266ddr ram, 64mb nvidia vid card, ct4750 creative, linksys 10-100, 20 gig maxtor udma100 and aha-2930 scsi performace is not an issue. even with all my software loaded is still screems. have a good day, john

To find duplicate entries in Msconfig/Startup, check the following register keys:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunServices

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

There may be multiple keys ending with "-" (no quotes)
Removing a value will remove it from Msconfig.
