I ran this program that tells me what services are running and what not, and I found this service called eklogin and the desription it gives is Kerberos (v4) encrypted login. Does anyone know what this is and if so what is it and do I need it and so on and so on...

Im running Windows XP Pro, and from some google searches I have done it seems to be a linux type program and I have never installed Linux on this machine. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks :)

You can disable it from starting. Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Services.

bcastner,

It doesn't show up in my list of running services. Do you know what this is? Virus, Backdoor type thing?

Thanks,
:)

No, it is the encrypted Kerberos rlogon.

It can come from:

. enabling 'Simple TCP/IP Services' in Windows Components
. Installing the Windows IVv6 Advanced Networking Pack:
It is standard in Windows 2003 Server, and I have never heard of it being a security threat, worm or trojan.
