What is DESIGNATION

What does the designation field in the general properties of the phone details mean. Can it be anything I choose, like department or building number? Most of ours are just designated PHONE. That doesn't seem too descriptive.

You can only have up to 6 digits/numbers and they can be whatever you want.

Good pointer would be a Frame ID or Patch relating to distribution
but it has to be something with the Max 6 digits

Nice to use the Designation field to tell where the phones psysically is situated - especially if its IP phones
