Advise on action to take:

My server report this error this morning, is this serious, what action should I take.

"A PROBLEM WAS DETECTED ON Tue Aug 5 04:00:54 BST 2003 801014

The Service Request Number(s)/Probable Cause(s)
(causes are listed in descending order of probability):

651-880: The CEC or SPCN reported an error. Report the SRN and the
following reference and physical location codes to your service
provider.
Error log information:
Sequence number: 796
Ref. Code: 10111521 FRU: 21P6417 V2 "

You didn't mention what machine type you were on so I can decode the reson code. But given that it refers to the SPCN and has a location code of V2 I'd say there are problems in your second power supply. Call your hardware maint org and have them check it out.

A CEC is nomenclature for a Regatta series of server.

Call IBM hardware.

Actually, The term CEC predates Regatta as all the 7025-Sxx series have CECs as well.

Either way this is still a problem with power supply 2.

Hi Guys

CEC is an acronym for "Central Electronic Complex"
and SPCN stands for "System Power Control Network".

CEC,the word can associate with any IBM servers like p,z,i etc...It need not be regatta(p670/p690) term.

As the error message code 651-880 shows :This is due power problem V1/V2 from last line of copper slim message....This is a hint..only.

copper slim:U can call your IBM support for hardware and
can get resovled

CEC - Housing that contains system processors, memory, and remote I/O connections.

Ginven the definition of CEC, in ANY IBM class I have had the term CEC was never mentioned until I had an LPAR class on the Regatta.

the 7013 Jxx has a CEC. it generally refers to a discrete portion of the system containing CPU, RAM, etc. the "IO Drawer" would be a separate unit. i don't believe the 7015 Rxx had a CEC, per say, but it had separate IO planars connected to the mainboard via sensitive JTAG cables.

Usige, the machine is a p620-6F1 model. I took your advice and had IBM engineer come in to replace the power supply unit.

The problem has reoccur this morning at the same time. Please advise

Hi Copperslim

In our company we are using the same pseries model..and .that is for our control workstation.

I never came across with that problem.
As I suggested in my previous post...Your problem is attributed to electrical power unit.

Are you getting same error code V2 as you mentioned in your
first and foremost post?
If does...better to inform and get it fixed by your IBM hardware support.

6F1/F85/F80 is a nightmare for me!
It have 2 or 3 power supply, but always dead in same time when a minor electronic shock! ----even PC keep working!
Every time my engineer heard a call of F80, they always carry 2 power supply to customer site.
I think it has a bad protect citcurt design,
So you had better setup a good UPS between server and power outlet----even it connected to a big UPS.
