What is a TIB in a Micros 2700? 1

I ran the diagnostics for a Micros 2700 half-keyboard system unit that I'm working on. I thought that the board installed was a CIB, but the diagnostics reported that a TIB was installed. What is a TIB?

TIB = Touch Interface Board. Every Micros 2700 touchscreen unit has one. Inside it connects to both the lower keyboard and the touchscreen.

CIB = Communications Interface Board. This board is used to drive "remote printers" (IE: Kitchen etc.) It's also used to connect the POS unit to a serial port on PC's when sites used the RM2700 software. Later on Micros introduced the XL MoBo that had it's own printer port (IDN) and although the CIB remained the popular method of connecting remote printers the XL MoBo offered another option. The IDN port on the XL MoBo is however the only way to connect a 2700 POS to printers such as Epson TMU200 and TmT88 Thermal printers. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the confirmation TobeThor. I figured that's what it was when I opened up the unit and saw the keyboard and touchscreen connected to it.
