The True definition of a Tablet PC today is one that is running “Microsoft Windows XP for Tablet PC”. These units were just released in Nov 2002. Windows XP for Tablet PC is a superset of the Windows XP operating system that allows Any application to take advantage of handwriting recognition and speech recognition. In short if you use the stylus and write information in the handwriting box it will interpret this and place it where the cursor is blinking regardless of the application.
There are other previous Tablet PC’s that don’t run Windows XP for Tablet PC. They are usually less money and don’t have all the latest features of Windows XP for Tablet PC.
