Hello,
We have a problem with SharePoint when uploading a file. There is a solution to increase the timeout. When doing that, the problem is solved, but what are the consequens.
We increased the "Connection timeout" to 600 and the "script timeout" to 600.
Can anyone tell me what kind of problems we can have bij increasing the timeouts.

Thanks

The computer will only allow so many connections (this can be changed in registry)
increasing the timeout will leave connections hanging for longer time in case of non gracefull disconnects and you could hit the limit and incomming connections would not get served.
also I believe evil-doers could exploit this to DOS your machine.

so on a public server it might be a problem, but non-public i wouldn't worry about it.

brgds Nicolai
