I got a server that is not doing well at all. I need to remove it from the server farm, and reinstall with another ip and dns name. It is not only that, there are other issues. BUT
what happens if I remove it from the farm, format the hard disk, give it a new name. When I put it into the farm, I take one of the disks from the other servers, and put it into the renamed server. The 2 new formatted disk i put into the machine that has just lost a disk, and the one with a new name.
Will I then get a perfect copy????

I do not understan exactly what you are planning to do. However, when we go to a customer to install Metaframe on a lot of IDENTICAL servers we install a server according the customer wishes and then we make a ghost copy (with the Ghost program of Symantec) and distribute that ghost over the other servers. We rename them and remove/add them to the domain so that the SID is changed. This works fine. If you intend to do something like this then I bet you will have succes. If not, please specify more clearly what you plan to do. Also specify which OS you are using etc...

I got a Citrix server MFe on a w2k platform.
It is called cit2. I am gonna remove it from the farm. Format the harddisk, install it on the network, and call it cit6, with a new IP adress.

As far as I know, you can remove a harddisk from the server, when they got hot-swap. After I have done that, I then put a empty disk into the server insted, the server will copy the content of the harddisk that is still working, on to the empty disk. I will do that to cit5 that is working perfect. then I got 3 disk with the content of what is on cit5.

Then I got a disk with all the content i need, to put into my cit6. booting that machine up with the disk from cit5 , and the last empty disk, have i then made the same opperation as the ghost tool. to copy the content of cit5 to cit6, or is this crap.
I guess I had to register the server in the farm using the chfarm tool

it sounds like you are going out of your way to make life difficult for yourself. install it from scratch, it's not that hard and it's the best way to avoid future problems.

The Hard drives will be recognized as new drives and rebuilt. Sooooo NO this will not work. I agree rebuild the server from scratch or use ghost.
