I have raid 5 our systems now I would like to know what happen if your OS goes down and you have to restore with your restore tape.

1. hd0 goes down has aix5.2 hdisk1 is raid5 with the data
now, when you restore from tape will you have to rebuild the logical volume for the data side, and if you do after you rebuild your logical volume do you have to do anything with hd1 and the raid system for the logical volume to see the data. Im asking because im setting up a crash kit and I have not had the OS crash on me and im not sure what will happen if it does crash. I have restore but a non raid system. I do have the OS mirrored but like I said I need to put a crash kit together

I hope you understand what Im talking about.

thanks

How is your RAID5 setup? Is it OS based or Hardware Based?

yeah, thats true, you just have to remount the datavg which is in your case from my understanding is the hd1. If your OS on hd0 crash, just restore work on that specific disk for restoration.Hope that helps.

Its hardware based,
Thanks for your help everybody thats all I need to know.
