what gif/jpg editer does everyone use 1

I am making smpile gif for my web page so smiple that i can use paint. but now I want to move up in the world. To animation. I work for a health so not alot $$$$ for photo editing software.

My sister used to have a site with artwork she created in Microsoft Paint. Doesn't get much better than that!

A little more digging found this page on Unisys's own site, which says when the patent expires in various places - today in the US, various later dates in other places around the world.

The GIMP is worth looking at if you're on a budget. If you have the time to spend to learn how to use it, it really is a powerful package, all the better that it's FREE!

I've downloaded the Flash Fireworks trial package, and frankly, I'm pretty amazed. So amazed, I'm buying the whole Studio MX ($800+).

For anybody who has reached that "serious" stage of web development, give Flash a try.
