quick question. Whay exactly is the loss group on a station form? What does it do and what are the values
1-19 used for?

thx

According to Avaya documentation:
Loss plans determine the amount of loss or gain applied on calls.
Look at display system-parameters country-options and it shows the 19 plans. That should give you a clue.
Looks like you can adjust the signal strength for different functions on different phones.

Hope this helps.

thanks. i went to the sys-country options and it did not have the loss group info in it.

thx

I'm sorry guys, this is what page 3 & 4 look like on my G3si v11. The loss groups are displayed in the loss plan.
According to my Avaya documentation, "Digital Loss Plan Modification" must be set to Y in the System-Parameters Customer-Options screen to be able to change these settings.

If you have the system documentation in Adobe format, go to the "Administrator's Guide for Communications Manager". In Volume 3 under Features and Technical Reference, there is a section called "loss plans". At least, that's where I found it.

Thanks. Still not sure what it really does and how the values relate on the station form. I have the documentation, but as you know it does not get to the point like this forum does.

thx again.

From the Avaya Administrators Guide:

"Loss plans determine the amount of loss (quieter) or gain (louder) applied on calls. Usually, your system uses a pre-defined loss plan that is base on the administered country code. In some circumstances, you may be able to change the loss plan used by your system on a per trunk or per phone basis.

CAUTION: The values in the loss plan can significantly affect the quality of service that your users experience. Therefore, in order to change the loss plan you must thoroughly understand loss plans and your particular configuration. We recommend that you seek technical assistance from Avaya before making any modifications to the loss plan."
