I'm preparing a DHCP scope form and it's asking for a IP Helper ip address. Can someone explain what is a IP Helper in relation to the Avaya world, thanks.

I believe it is for the phones to be able to get a DHCP address in the correct range.

More specifically, where DHCP requests on a particular VLAN will be routed - like a central DHCP server

IP Helper strictly tell the station where the DHCP server is located. The IP Helper will be the IP address of the DHCP server.

No. The IP helper address does not "tell the station" anything. The DHCP relay agent on the device (when activated) receives a broadcast DHCP message from a host and transmits it to the address configured in the IP helper.

Take Care

I have always wished that my computer would be as easy to use as my telephone.
My wish has come true. I no longer know how to use my telephone.
