In a vector I dont understand why the split 55 is needed for line "messaging split 55 for extension 4000".

It's in the after hours line, split 55 is the Audix extension, extension 4000 is labeled as a Mailbox station.

it will send the caller to the vm box @ext 4000.

then the next working day, a person of that department has a vm led on his/her phone and can listen to the vm message;-)

Thx MeneerB,

Is the "split 55" necessary?

I've seen it done with the "messaging split 55 for extension 4000" way. I think split 55 is the hunt group for your voicemail system.

For mailboxes without phones I usually create a virtual station with coverage to voicemail and just do a:

route-to number 4000 with cov y if unconditionally

both will work fine.

good luck!
