Our UPS running our CS1000 system needs to be replaced. We've purchased a new one but want to make sure that we have everything backed up before we power down and move the power over to the new UPS.

The instructions that have been passed down to me to backup our system are as follows:

We have a system with a serial connection to the CS1000.

I use hyperterminal to open a session
Logi
LD 143
xbk
recieve the file
xvr
send the file
make sure the result is OK

Are there any parts of our system that are not being backed up by this process?

It does not back up the Operating System files, and it does not back up the voice mail system, but it does back up everything related to the phones, trunks, patches, etc.

Note: XBK does not work on large systems....just the wall mount kind.

There is less than 1% chance you will need to restore anything.

Our system is "just the wall mount kind".

After that process I end up with a file on the system.

Our Call Pilot system is backed up elsewhere.

I'd like to backup to a CF card, but I can't for the life of me get the card to read in the system. I've read a ton on it and it sounds like my problem is that I don't have an older Windows system or camera around to format the CF card with. I'm not too worried about it since I can preform this method at will.

48MB or 64MB PCMCIA Flash Card will work.

It's only dialtone!!!

If you CS1000 system uses the SSC card, then always use the "XBK" command in LD 143. I've found that this contains all of your data, whereas the PCMCIA backup version fails to save the IP data in LD 117.

All the best

If it's working, then leave it alone!.
