WHAT CODE SHOULD I USE TO FIND RECORD IN VBA CODE

I NEED SOME CODE EXAMPLES TO SEARCH THE DB FOR A PARTICULAR RECORD AND KNOW IF THE SEARCH WAS SUCCESSFUL. ALSO ADD A NEW REC IF NOT FOUND IN VBA.

How do I setup a macro to export part of an Access table based on a query to an Excel format? I'm trying to use records modified on a laptop out in the field to update an AS/400 data base on a weekly process. I will be transfering the Excell file(through data transfer--Client access) to a AS/400 lib. file member then use a Cobol program to update the AS/400 data base.
