On my 2811 and 1811 devices, entering the VLAN DATABASE command returns a warning the command is being "Deprecated"; to be replaced with an IOS equivalent command. I know how to set the VTP domain name, pruning, version, etc. via the IOS. But I can not find an IOS equivalent command to create a VLAN or delete a VLAN - so it shows up in the "show vlan-switch" command. Thus, I find myself right back in the VLAN DATABASE command to create or delete VLANS. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

you just go into global config thusly:

config t

then you define your vlan

<config># vlan 20

then you define your parameters, for example name
<config-vlan># name myvlan

If at the <config-vlan> prompt you will do a ? you will see all the options.

You can also try this

router(config)#downward-compatible-config

Which did you do that worked for you? Never had to do the downward-compatible-config, but just curious if that works...
