Hi All

I am currently cleaning up our Passport 8600 and in the dir listing there are two files which i want to get rid of, but i would like to know what they are before doing so!

asmconfig.bin
wsmtrunk.bin

Does anyone have any information? The wsmtrunk.bin file doesnt seem to be updated when i do a save config but the asmconfig.bin file does??

Thanks in advance

Rob

Just an update.............

i found out what they represent,

WSMTRUNK.BIN (Web Switching Module)
ASMCONFIG.BIN (Application Switching Module)

We dont use either so can they both be deleted without any issues? or is there a flag that needs to be set to false?

Rob

What blades do you have installed in 8600 ?

Thanks for the reply Rick.

I managed to delete the files, they were for blades that we dont even have in the 8600. I was just curious why it updated the ASMCONFIG file when doing a "save config". I copied the file a 2nd 8600 and did a "save config" and it udated the same file on the 2nd 8600. That made me think its just a default thing it does so i deleted it. All seems ok.

Cheers

Rob

I've got the same thing, I'm fairly certain they are created by default like pcap.cfg on secondary CPUs. You can probably delete them, but I suspect they'll get re-created next time you save the config, or perhaps on the next boot. On the bright side they’re small and flash is cheap.
