What are the odds that I can run dcpromo to remove the last domain controller from a remote domain using terminal server?

Anyone ever tried?

Remote domain in the UK. Don't wish to give admin password to them for our root domain. Certainly I could change it, but would rather do this myself than to ask them to do it.

Change the password on the machine you want to demote, then give them that password. You always want a live body by a machine you're running dcpromo. Good luck.

But during dcpromo are they not asked to log in as the Root domain admin? I didn't think you could run dcpromo without logging in as the admin of the forest root.

Sorry, you are correct. This is to show you have the authority to demote/promote the server.
