Does anyone know what are the differences between the following
IBM Deskstar 120GXP 120G hard drive models:

07N8086
07N9201
07N9219

If one is retail packaging, which one ?
Which one is OEM packaging and is 8086 an older rev of the h/w ?

Any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!

Hello deskstar:

The numbers you stated are part numbers, not model numbers. Check out the following link:

Unfortunately, when these part numbers are used at this site, they all refer to model number IC35L120AVVA07, IBM Deskstar 120GXP hard drive. All these part numbers are for "generic" components. The term "generic" is not defined.

Hello again deskstar:

I checked with:

It appears that the 07N8086 and 07N9219 are sold as bare drives and termed OEM. The warranty for these products appears to be 3 years, most from the vendor, not IBM. The 07N9201 appears to be the retail boxed product and has a three year warranty from IBM. Naturally, this last product is more expensive. I suggest that you check the pricewatch site for a more detailed view. Hope this helps.

Arachkid,

Thank you for your reply!!! I will look into pricewatch.
Thanks again!!!
