What are some of the best GIGABIT SWITCHES for small business ?

Just wanted to know some good recommendations for GIGABIT SWITCHES.

We were having the regular 10/100/1000 switches all these days and now wanted to upgrade to GIGABIT SWITCHES.

Any recommedations ? We have 40 PC's

48 port ones ?

I try to pick one company and stick with it down the line, router/VPN, WAP, Gigabit switch and NICS are all D-link, the company that has performed the best for me. This way they cannot point fingers if you have a problem and there is no middleman of another breed.

If this is unpractical, I still like Dlink they have an unmanaged layer 2 Gigabit switch that's reasonable. For managed sitches Cisco is the bomb but $$$. Remember if this is layer 2 to get the biggest you will need. Best of luck.

Um, 1000 is Gigabit, so I'm a bit confused as to what you need...

I'm very happy with HP's Procurve switches, but they only use Gigabit for the uplink, it's 100 Mbit to the desktop.

Cisco has some nice, affordable, gigabit to the desktop types of switches that you can pick up for under $3000. If you're going for cheaper, LinkSys (which is owned by Cisco) has a nice 48-port 10/100/1000 (which is gigabit) switch with web based management, etc, for around $900.
