Management wants to create a &quot;war room&quot; where much production scheduling and status info can be displayed during meetings of several persons.&nbsp;&nbsp; If we used multiple monitors it would probably take around 4 to 6 of them.<br><br>Does anyone have experience with using large TV screens?&nbsp;&nbsp;Or maybe projection units?&nbsp;&nbsp;Or any other ideas?<br><br>Thanks in advance. <p>John Kisner<br><a href=mailto:jlkisner@jlkisner.com>jlkisner@jlkisner.com</a><br><a href= > </a><br>

If you're trying to show a lot of detail, size may not be as important as resolution.&nbsp;&nbsp;Even a 640x480 VGA display is higher resolution that a TV display.&nbsp;&nbsp; You may want to go for the highest resolution projection display you can get.&nbsp;&nbsp;(Warning: the good ones will go for many thousands of $$$)<br><br>Your other option would be multiple computers with 19&quot; or 21&quot; monitors on them.&nbsp;&nbsp;Even 21&quot; montiros can be had for under 1000.00. <p> Jeff<br><a href=mailto: masterracker@hotmail.com> masterracker@hotmail.com</a><br><a href= > </a><br> Of all the things I've lost in life, I miss my mind the most ...

If you dont mind graphic quality alot, buy a bunch of generic PCI video cards(not AGP cuz you can only put a single AGP on a board, but you can mix a single AGP card with many PCI)<br>if you use win98, pop in all the Video cards you want to use, make sure you have the latest drivers for each and that all are fairly new no more than 4 years old. hook a monitor up to each one, when windows starts it'll detect each video card, install drivers and dont restart until it has found all video card, and all the monitors attached, next time you reboot, you should find in display properties multiple monitors, which you can set their placements resolutions, and color depth, also be able to span the desktop across all the monitors. <p>Karl<br><a href=mailto:kb244@kb244.8m.com>kb244@kb244.8m.com</a><br><a href= </a><br>Experienced in , or have messed with : VC++, Borland C++ Builder, VJ++6(starting),VB-Dos, VB1 thru VB6, Delphi 3 pro, Borland C++ 3(DOS), Borland C++ 4.5, HTML, ASP(somewhat), QBasic(least i didnt start with COBOL)

how do you do this with Windows 2K?

--only those that do not try, fail--

The point about resolution is key here. If you want info to be visible to people sitting away from the monitors then consider Plasma (up to 63&quot; these days) or the larger LCD monitors (I have seen 40&quot;lcd's - not sure how big they go, it gets bigger every time I look). Most plasma have a vga connector and the lcd will have vga or dvi.
Projection can be OK but more ambient light dependent and a pain if people are walking around.

our bog standard nvidia fx5200 cards drive 2 monitors. Matrox Parahelia cards can drive 3 monitors simultaneously, specialist kit will drive more.

win 2k works fine with these options, check the drivers though. Either same info displayed in several places or You can spread your desktop over the monitors so that you have a seamless desktop.

(plus you have an excellent gaming resource for out of hours!)

Projection is the way to go for big displays. there are several companies that make good ones. We use one for board meetings and safety training. If the room is going to be a permanent you can go with rear projection. It all depends on how much room you have and what you want to spend. (Remember pay-per-view at the theaters?)

I have seen classrooms with projection units where the projection unit is mounted on the ceiling and the wires go down through the wall and can be run to just a plug or a docking station for a Laptop.
