Welcome to Making an Impression; we invite you to read All About Us (FAQ1256-5837).

As a circle of light increases so does the circumference of darkness around it. - Albert Einstein

This was sent to me by Gooser via e-mail, but I'm posting it here so that everyone may enjoy it.

Gooser said:
I live in University Place, WA (where there is no university, despite the name) and I work in Seattle (which I always remember how to spell thanks to Sir MixALot lyrics, S-E-A-double-T-L-E, Seattle) - As for my moniker, if you will. As a green programmer/dba at my first assignment at Langley, when I arrived station, immediately upon entering the office, my sponsor, Zook (or Zuke, if you prefer) pointed and said 'Goose!' He was making reference to the fact that he thought I looked like Anthony Edwards character 'Goose' from the movie, Top Gun. It stuck...hard. Later, shortly before I left Langley, my good friend MikeD took to calling me Gooser, for whatever reason. So, when I arrive at a new website, and Goose is taken, I try Goosie, or Gooser, or sometimes longneckgoose, or longneckgoosie. (The longneck having a double meaning in that it both describes the goose, and a longnecked beer bottle or longneck)

I'll add this to the FAQ shortly. Anyone and everyone is more than welcome to add their own stories.

I'm in Collegeville PA.
It is 35 minutes to two and a half hours outside Philadelphia.
I work in King of Prussia, which is about halfway between Collegeville and Philly.
It takes me about 15 minutes to an hour and a half to get there.
As I'm sure you can imagine, I hope to some day be able to work from home :-D

I was born in Newark, DE. After 4 years there I spent time in Las Vegas (1 year), Houston (4 years), Wilmington Delaware (3 years), Kennett Square PA (6 years), Syracuse NY (4 years for college) and Downingtown PA (2 years).

My handle is incredibly lame. It is my first (well actually middle, but thats another story) name followed by 'Cuse to express my pride for the 2003 NCAA Basketball Champion OrangeMEN (They took away MEN the following year and I am still bitter about it. Who wants to call their team just ORANGE?)

Glad to make your acquaintances,

Alex

It's a magical time of year in Philadelphia. Eagles training camp marks the end of another brutal season of complaining about the Phillies.

Well, I had the nickname "Tigger" pretty unanimously applied to me back in Uni - by friends, lecturers and everyone in between - but that's a terrible handle.
I tried "Tyger" after the fantastic William Blake poem - one which means a lot to the missus and me. I also like it's assonance to "Cyber"... Too short & simple for me to expect THAT one to stay unused, however.

Eventually I decided to append "Pyro" due to my love of fire-performing (staff, poi etc) and my geekish love for things that go boom (or whoomph). Thankfully, it's not been already-taken in any forum I've come across over the years... yet!

PyroTyger,

Your handle also evokes the first line of the Blake poem: Tyger! Tyger! burning bright. I like it.

I used to rock and roll every night and party every day. Then it was every other day. Now I'm lucky if I can find 30 minutes a week in which to get funky. - Homer Simpson

My name is Rich, and I live in the Indianapolis, IN area. I am originally from Saratoga, NY...joined the Army out of HS...spent time in NJ, Texas, California (Monterey area), and Korea. After the Army, went to college at SUNY Fredonia (NY), and lived in the Buffalo, NY area for about 7 years after college. I've been living here in Indy for about a year and a half now.

As for my simple handle...the first initial of my first name, and my last name...pretty boring, eh?

Hi all, or Y'all for some of you [wink]. My name is Steve and I'm a pretty laid back country hick that loves a good joke. I live in Washinton( not WaRshington) State and have lived here my whole life, and I enjoy the rain... kinda weird I know. Still in my 20's and I'll be the first to say I don't know s**t. I enjoy reading all of the posts in MAI, some of the poster's really make the work day go by fast.

As for the handle it's a nickname I that my cousin made up when I was a kid...even he doesn't know why he called me it.

Great, there goes the introduction thread ;p

The thread is relatively unimportant, nothing more than a scratchpad. It's the FAQ that counts. :)
