Hello everyone,

I'll start out with system specs:
BNR Mics 2.0 Working Issue 4.05
ST Flash 1.7.00

We have been getting reports that recently a few times per day people call in, but instead of getting the AA, it just rings and rings. Also, daily now our boss (Ext 221) receives these ring in calls directly to him. the display shows "DRT Line 001" or "DRT Line 002". The only time our boss has ever received calls is when they were transferred from his receptionist. It seems as both of these issues have started at the same time. We have 8 analog lines coming into the system, and only like once a day are those lines all full.

Any ideas what may be causing this?

sounds like the voicemail is out of paths to the phones system. Is it a 2 or 4 flash?

I would set the lines to not appr and ring on your bosses phone.

DRT is Delayed Ring Transfer, and x221 is the default Prime Set for all lines. So that means the incoming calls are ringing longer than the DRT Transfer Ring number and defaulting to x221. You can turn DRT off, but you still have the AA problem.

I'd dial in on each line individually and see what line is causing the problem.

it's a 2. I have a 4 upgrade module that I can install. would i need to do anything specific or just unplug the old and plug in the new?

also Dewey, I'm not quite understanding what you are saying. I get the part that instead of going to the AA, the line is going to Ext. 221, but I'm not understanding why, and what I need to do to resolve it.

Go to operator mode by using feature 982. Password should be operator. Make sure answer lines is yes.

You need to turn DRT to none. Yes, you should use the expansion module. That will give you the ability for 4 calls at a time, whether AA or someone checking messages, instead of 2.

Answer lines is set to yes. Also, the attendant is 233, who has an answer DN for 221 (she's front desk and also his receptionist).

also, we just found out that our 800 number wasn't redirecting to our local numbers like it should, so that should account for the continual ringing sometimes (our 800 number is through verizon). would that possibly have any effect in causing the other issue with the DRT issue?

NO, listen to the wording. Delayed Ring Transfer. It means, what it says. After an incoming call ringing but not answered, hence the Delayed Ring, it Transfers to the Prime Set for that line. x221 is the default Prime Set for all lines.

This is done in the telephone programming, not Vmail. Turn DRT off.

No. Seprate issue.
Odds are Dewey and endlesswinter are right. Especially if you are only using a 2 port vm.

How many incoming lines do you have? Are they all being answered immediately by AA, or does AA pick up after a few rings?

Everyone is going in the right direction, check the time of day the problem happens. Ive found in the past problems with not enough channels to access voicemail show up first thimg in the morning and just after lunch. These are high voicemail user times as everyone gets back to the office and check there messages all at the sametime.

You probally need more ports on the vmail. the promblem with it ringing the boss's set is the prime set is default 221. 221 is usually assigned to a receptionist. You can change thwe prime line by going under line programming and putting in another ext.

thanks everyone. i set the prime set per line to 233 (the receptionist). we are running out of open ports on the AA/VM which is causing this issue. Yesterday I ordered a FiberNam with 16 ports/1000 mailboxes so once installed this should alleviate any issues we are having.

Here's a weird one though. this morning I powered down the system, then installed a 4 port upgrade for the vm. made sure it was wired properly to the correct new extension (245 is original vm, so i wired the upgrade to 246 also). once I powered the system back up the memory in our flashtalk was wiped for some reason. no AA, no VM, everything gone. took like 2 hours to set everything back up ROFL.

That should not have happened. Going the opposite direction, four to two, Yes. Well it'll just make it easier/faster for you, when you install the NAM.

It's probably a little late to check now, but have you had issues losing programming on it during a power failure? If so, the vm is living on borrowed time, anyway, and upgrading to a NAM, or CP is a good decision.

no issues before, that's what confuses me. also, after this happened, we powered down and back up again and didn't loose programming at all. Yea, the upgrade will definitely help out. just gotta get the two digital T1's installed.

Your MOD ICS is pretty old alot of CP100 or CP 150 are not compatible to older software. That even goes for later issue of NAM 4.0.
