I have a customer running IP Office Basic 8.1 (69).

They often get calls to two of their three lines that just say External (all regular calls show the caller ID) and it rings almost 2 times then goes away.

Could their lines somehow be tied to another office in the complex?
Is this a flaw in the system?

Thanks for the advice.

Just got it while running monitor..can't tell how far up to go. Not sure if this is helpful or not...Thanks again.

Are the incoming lines analog? By default, if no incoming caller ID is available, the IP Office inserts the word "External" wherever ICLID information is normally displayed

Add SHOW_LINEID_NOT_OUTSIDE to NOUSER Source Numbers

If they are analog and it sounds like they are, make sure the provider does not have voicemail on the lines. This sounds like the provider sending a voicemail alert on the line causing it to ring the IPO.

8.1 (73) fixed this problem. Upgrade to the latest and you should be ok.
