weblogic 6.1 sp2 hangs

I am running weblogic 6.1 sp2 with jdk 1.3.1_01 and oracle 8.1.7.3. I have noticed weblogic will hang, not allowing any access on designated port 7001. I tried kill -3 for the thread dump, but that did not work. Kill -9 is the only way I can release the process. I tried using the truss command, but alas, that did not work either.

Any ideas to get a thread dump?

Try using kill -5 to trap the error - this is what was suggested by the folks at BEA. still I have not completely gotten it to work.
