Hi Guys

I wonder if someone can help me. I've just installed v5.1.6 (client and WebI). The repository is all set up (only in Access for now) and again this seems to be fine. I have set up a BCA userID in supervisor. On my server, I have installed WebI and BCA and now I've just gone into the Admin tool so that the BCA I have set up can be monitored. When I refresh the BCA list and enter my supervisor logon details, I just get the error message "SYSTEM PROBLEM TO GET BCA LIST". Any clues? Thanks in advance.

Does WebI run correctly from your server.

This error generally means that your repository cannot be accessed by the server.

Is your ODBC DSN a system DSN? Can the server access the database?

I'll try and answer these.

1. Yes the server can access the repository. I validated this by simply running busobj.exe and importing a universe.

2. The ODBC datasource is a USer DSN I think. (I think you're going to tell me that it should be a system DSN).

3. I don't have the licence key for full WEBI, but I can certainly get to (although of course I don't have a user to login with).

I hope this helps and that you can as well.

But I reckon it's going to be something to do with my ODBC datasource or my Access DB.

Thanks Steve.

You should still be able to log in to InfoView. Everyone is licensed for that.

You are correct. Your ODBC source MUST be a system DSN. The services don't log in the way you do, so they don't see user DSNs.

If you can log into InfoView (WebI), you should be OK with the BCA admin panel.

Hi Steve

Yes you are quite right, I can log in to Infoview no problem. As far as I can see everything is fine - can see the repository, services all seem to be running, datasource is a system DSN etc. But when I log into the Admin tool now, it attempts to connect to the CLuster Manager and just hangs. Looking at the Java Console, I get messages such as "Unable to check numeric address xxx.xxx.xxx.xx" amongst other things. Do you have any more clues? Thanks again.

That's a different issue. How many network cards do you have?

You really should look this one up on the tech support site. There are alot of possiblilties on this one.

Hi guys. No I just have the one NIC card (Steve) and because of the problem I was having, I'm unable to monitor a BCA (VishalS).

The good news is that I completely de-installed and re-installed and now I can get in throught the WebI admin panel (the BCA one still hangs but hey who's complaining). Still not sure what the problem was, but thanks for your input.
