We are installing Symposium Web Client and are ready to configure the users. However, the NTP asks us for the default password for the user "webadmin". We cannot find this password on any of the documentation. We talked with our vendor and he gave us a password that does not work. HELP.

Thanks Killian. That's the same as what was given us and did not work. This is a new install and nothing has been changed. Anyone have any clues?

When you install Symposium Web Client, the Web Client setup wizard creates a Windows 2000 Server/Advanced Server user called iceadmin and assigns full administrative access rights to this user. If you delete this user or modify the user’s password in Windows 2000 Server/Advanced Server after you install the Symposium Web Client software, then you will not be able to log on to Symposium Web Client either as webadmin, or any other user. You must not change the iceadmin password after you install the software.

In this case, you must uninstall and reinstall the Symposium Web Client software, ensuring that you do not alter the default user name and password for the iceadmin account.

That might help Skaret...thank you. We are installing WC on Server 2003. Any differences there?

SWC 4.5 installed on W2K3 server require minimum ServiceUpdate 3. I think the latest ServiceUpdate is SU05 for SWC 4.5. Do you have installed the latest SU?

I was wondering if you came up with any resolution on this problem? I have ran into the same thing, and have been working with Nortel on trying to resolve it. We have it installed on a Win2003 server using ADAM instead of Active Directory which was used on Win2000. Currently Nortel is looking at ADAM not being accessible, but was wondering if you might have already found the cause. I've noticed there have been a few reports of this already beyond your own.

Any updates on this? I went to Microsoft and could not find any service pack upgrades for 2003. Has anyone ever solved this issue?

the service pack update is for the web client software not windows. I would question the installer about the iceadmin account. On a new install it seems pretty ridiculous not to know this info.

This is the answer we have come up with so far. The Symposium Web Client instance of ADAM was set up to use nt authority\network service…We changed it to run as system and everything works fine.

We had blown out the server and reinstalled it clean, rather then using an image. As they reloaded the policies and settings to add the server to the domain, we ran into the same issue and the above seems to have corrected it at this point.

We had the same issue; by accessing the W2003 server directly and resetting the IceAdmin user password to it's original the webadmin could access again. You should enter this new IceAdmin pwd into the configuration and all is OK.
We're running SWC 4.5 with SU 05 on windows 2003 fully patched.
