Web Interface loosing configuration

MF PS30, I have a two-server farm. One server hosts the WI for the farm. I rebooted both servers the other day and after reboot could not reconnect to the farm through the WI. After some hair pulling I discovered the WI lost its entire configuration. I had to reconfigure everything, Domain, XML server and so on.
Any ideas why this would happen?

Yes the Web Interface is being hosted on one of the MF30 servers. I have rebooted these servers before with no problem. I wonder if it is an IIS problem?

Possibly, really strange one that. Might be. I have had to refind the Web site using the beta release of 4.0, but that is all I have had problems with
