We are currently writing an in house application that fails at a certain point. It tries to copy files from a folder on Sharepoint 2003 to a local folder, modify and replace. From a desktop ie XP I can browse to the location "\\PORTAL\C*\Shared Folder Name" etc but from a server that runs the application we can only get to this source through a browser. Any ideas on this?

You could manually map the drive from the computer and use the drive letter then instead of the full path.

Mapping a drive brings back the same error on a server but works OK on a desktop.

What server OS? I don't think W2K has the Web Client service, which is required to access shared Web folders.
