I noticed on a 2950 switch at my job i can tpye the web address in and i get a websession console with http:\\10.x.x.x\homepage.html and im able to configure it. however, on my 2950 i dont get that. when i type in my ipadrress on my 2950 i get a a text base screen then when i click on webconsole is says "page cannot be displayed". I did some research and its says to type ip http enable however, that didnt solved the problem. do i have to install something else on the switch? what command do i use to fix this issue?

Post the output from show flash and show ver please.

That is the Cisco Device Manager view. Pretty much does everything that Cisco Network assistant except the CNA supports multiple switches in one view and CDM does not. Anyway you are pprobably missing the needed support files in flash. Example below:
2 -rwx 109 Jun 28 2006 15:06:59 -07:00 info
3 -rwx 3117390 Jun 28 2006 15:08:50 -07:00 c2950-i6q4l2-mz.121-22.EA8.bin
4 drwx 4096 Jun 28 2006 15:09:35 -07:00 html
409 -rwx 109 Jun 28 2006 15:10:19 -07:00 info.ver
410 -rwx 43 Jun 28 2006 15:10:19 -07:00 env_vars
411 -rwx 5 Jun 28 2006 15:11:16 -07:00 private-config.text
413 -rwx 3078 Jun 28 2006 15:11:16 -07:00 config.text

HTML is a directory were the web support files are located. If this is missing then you need to re-load a new image but not just the .bin you need to perform a archive /tar with the tar image containing the CDM files.

Also the command is not ip http enable.

The command lines I have are:
ip http server
ip http authentication local

A word to the wise. If your perform the archive function make sure to save the config before reloading. I have had this process erase the config as well and the switch re-loaded with no config.

If you need to reload the flash only delete the following example from flash:
3 -rwx 3117390 Jun 28 2006 15:08:50 -07:00 c2950-i6q4l2-mz.121-22.EA8.bin

Obtain the tar file with CMS and put it on your tftp server then issue the following:

archive tar /x tftp://tftp_server_ip/filename.tar flash:

are you saying that i have to erase the entire OS and reload? why cant i just get the html files and upload them?

What I am saying is that the switch will operate with just an IOS in flash. ".bin" If you are missing the other files needed the way I used to get those files was to obtain the ".tar" image with the beb based device manager and use the archive tar method to upload and expand the files into the switch:
Example:
archive tar /x tftp://tftp_server_ip/filename.tar flash:

You must clear the flash before doing this. By clearing the flash completely you also wipe the config so remember to write mem before the reload and put it back. You could also just delete the .bin file and leave the config.
