I have a weird situation with a new web app I am setting up. The app consists of two 2000 servers one running IIS the other running the apps database. The web app functions fine if the workstations accessing it are on the same subnet but if we access it from a different subnet through a router we can get logged in fine but once we hit one of the ASP page's that actually pulls up data from the database server it just times out. One the same subnet the data comes up very quickly. Our lan has a different subnet for it's workstations and servers and everything else is working fine. We are not receiving any specific error messages the browser just sits there. Has anyone else come across a problem similar to this?

We ended up figuring it out. The webapp had the servername hard coded and so the client machines running the browser had to be able to resolve out the servername. You couldn't just point to it's ip address directly. The app ended up working when you were on the same subnet because the name would get resolved over netbios. Once we got the correct dns entry everything works fine.
