I have a problem wich is just anoying :

My machine works nut every once in a while especially after reboot i get Blue lined messages saying:

wd1: transfer error, downgrading to Ultra-DMA 1
.....etc.
and the later to
wd1: transfer error, downgrading to Ultra-DMA 0
....etc.
wd1: transfer error, downgrading to Ultra-DMA 2
....etc.
a device time out

and then a

wd1: soft error (corrected)

(I'm sorry for being lazy because i could not copy and past the hole correct sysntax of the error message from putty so i hope the above description is enough)

Anyway after the soft error(corrected) everything works fine but I would like to know if there is a way of solving this and setting OpenBSD so that it autmatically corects this with out all the downgrading etc.

I am Still running GENERIC so if recompiling the kernell would solve this also please say so.

Any one got a clue???????
What to do??????
Any one found a good manual for recompiling the kernell.

whell I screwed the entire harddisk into a new machine and its running verry whell now.

Thanx for reading anyway
