Hi,
I am currently running Crystal Reports 8.0 on a Personal Web Server with the Web Component server installed.
I am calling the report from the URL and have the correct username and password for the database but when I click on the link to the report on the web page a dialog box opens asking if I would like to save the file to disk or open it in the current location.

Does anyone know why this may be?
Any help would be appreciated, thanks for your time,
CM80

Check the web component server is running and has the correct association for rpt files.

What is happening is that your URL is telling the Web server to send it an rpt file - so it is trying to send you the file, rather than processing it on the web component server.

To check if the WCS is working try and see if the demo reports are okay.

Hi,
sorry it's been a while since I have had a chance to look at this but I am still having a few problems. I tried the link but the page won't open so I think it may be a problem with the web component server.

Does it make a difference that I had Crystal Reports installed on my machine before I installed the Personal Web Server. If so, can I just copy the necessary files to the web server directory or do I have to reinstall Crystal.

Thanks,

I don't believe that Crystal supports Personal Web Server.

Personal Web server isn't the problem, but the WCS has to be isntalled on NT or Win2k. Personal Web Server on W2k is just a rebadged IIS, so it's okay.

PWS on Win98/95 won't work. Editor and Publisher of Crystal Clear

Hi chelseatech,
I have Crystal installed on NT Workstation. Do you have any idea of any changes I might have to make or is a reinstall required

thanks
