wav files from voicemail

Hi,
We have a 200ICP with embedded voicemail. We have several voicemail boxes set up to forward the message to the user's email address in the form of an attachment. Works perfectly. The only issue is that sometimes the name assigned to the attachment (the voicemail) confuses the email server. For ex, an attachment was named N_V48ac8fd2.08d.wav. Note the "." after the "2". Sometimes the email server things whatever is after the first "." is the type of file (i.e. ".08d" which is obviously not the file type). Any idea how to control the name assigned to the attachcment to make it more simple and no dots except before wav? Thanks

What type of e-mail server is it?

By definition of computer science, it is the last . that should be used (this is how Microsoft works on all products, and as we know, they rule the world, after Mitel of course).

What do you mean by type? We use a prodcut called SmarterMail and uses SMTP to send. We DO NOT use Microsoft Exchange.
A lot of us have Blackberries or other PDA's and the problem is really more when the email (with the vmail attached) get's forwarded to our cell. That might be part of the problem.

There is no known issue with Blackberries and the file naming convention. We use it here and it works fine. Sounds like your e-mail server could be the problem??

Do you know if your mail server filters on extensions or does virus scanning?

Yes, virus scanning, but the issue is the name assigned to the file, which I would like to be able to control
I appreaciate the responses, but my question is still "can the name of the voicemail attachment (which I believe is assigned by the mitel) be controlled so it is not so random? Am I correct in assuming that the name of the voicemail attachment is given by the Mitel?

Yes, the name of the file is generated by the embedded mail. The file name is dirived via a combination of extension number, time and date. They cannot be changed.
