Our initial warranty is about to expire and I am wondering what you other users are doing when that times comes. Are you renewing or not? The annual fee appears to be about 1/3rd the price of a replacement printer which appears to be a little steep.
The only problem I am currently having is a paper jam issue that has not been resolved. Other than that, it has not required much service. That said, it will now probably melt down hours after the warranty expires in a few days.

This is a "How long is a string" type question.

Plenty of factors to consider - how long do you plan to keep the printer - how much downtime can you afford - if it suffers a terminal failure can you replace it.

My short answer is, if you plan to keep the printer for any length of time then extend, otherwise budget to replace it so you have the capital ready at hand. HTH

If your machine is near or over 60,000 copies you will be having some other lift draw issues soon. Also, since you did not state your machine model, it is hard to advise. The 840 ink turns magenta after a while, the 850 ink is soft. We just junked an 850 after destroying the print head with brand x ink and replaced it with an 8200 machine. Much faster, ink is very hard, will not scrape off. New machine, FROM DEALER not Xerox, cost $2050 less $230.00 rebate. Only down side is that you pay for black ink.
Good Luck
