Hi,
I have started a new job and they have been using TSM 5.1 for Backups. Unfortunately, (for me) the process has been smooth.

I have 8 machines scheduled for backups. 1 machine runs - completed, 1 machine runs - failed and I have the remaining 6 that always say "pending".

Can someone please point me in the correct direction to fix "pending"?

Thanks,
Dan

This means that the server is still waiting for the scheduled session... This may be because the DURATION is long, Duration means that the schedule can start anytime within the start time plus duration. You can lower the duration but then these "pending" will become missed. The reason you aren't seeing them miss is because the next scheduled session is starting before the summary comes out.

The root cause may be that the client nodes aren't connecting to your TSM server. Try going to the client logs dsmsched.log and dsmerror.log and see if there are any errors/warnings, or maybe the client is unable to retrieve its schedule from the server, so it will not have any new entries in the dsmsched.log.
