I know this questions may be a little off topic but the paging system is being connected to an IP Office.

We have a customer that is moving into a large warehouse. 480,000 sq ft. 400ft x 1200ft. They want to have good coverage for paging in the warehouse. It is a trucking/shipping company. I called Bogen and they are suggesting 133 horns to cover the building. That seems a little excessive. Does anyone have experience with paging systems this large? Do we really need that many horns?

Depends on how it is layed out and what is inside it, if it's totally empty you would get away with a quarter of that, if it's full of high shelves and noisy machinery with fork lifts whizzing about you may well need that many, it needs a proper survey really :)

Survey is critical. According to my trusty rusty Valcom slide-rule type calculator, you'll need somewhere between 40 (55 +/- dB background nose) and 225 (90+ dB background noise) horns. Obviously, that's a lot of swing. Survey.

The customer has not moved in yet so right now it is just one huge empty building. They are going to have very little racking approx 60,000 sq ft. We will just have to guess noise levels. What do you mean by a proper survey?
