Hi all :) I am somewhat new to micros and i am wanting to possibly add a terminal or 2.. I have noticed that my current terminals run on windowsCE and i dont have a lot of experience with it tho i understand its kind of a stripped down version of xp.. So do i have to use windowsCE? I am wanting to try using a tablet pc with micros installed on it.. Can i use a tablet pc with res3700? Can it have windows 7/8 on it? Any help or point me in the right direction is appreciated! Also will I have to buy another license for the extra terminal from my micros dealer?

Thanks!
Jeff

Hey Moregelen.. well i didnt have a dns set on the new clients because i didnt see any set in the old clients but maybe ipconfig /all just didnt show it to me.. i havent ever used CE till recently and its a little different. But i did set the same dns info that the server was using on the new clients and the wait time went from 5 minutes to 40 seconds... still not as fast as the old terminals but .. well it still just seems weird that it only cut like 4 minutes off the wait. Old clients do it in 2-3 seconds.. What driver would i need to install on the new clients? Where would i get it?
And ill look for the 3700d log on the server or new client?

Thanks again for all the help man :)

Or maybe is there a way to tell the new client to wait say 10 seconds till it uses the server to process?

Look in POS Configurator -> Devices -> CA/EDC and tell me what the driver codes are.

I will give it a try and let ya know how it goes.. I dont need to worry about this causing any problems do i? Got about 500 people showing up tonight...

Oh test it before you open for sure if you can. I don't see it causing problems, but I would definitely ring something in on a credit card you can then check to make sure it posted with the right name and everything. Start with a single workstation. If it doesn't make a difference or if it screws so ethi g up you have time to uninstall it.

Hey... well that driver only wants to be installed on the server.. didnt let me install on the new workstations... and all the other ones are working fine so im scared to use this on the server...
Is there maybe a way i can tell these new clients just not to wait as long to use the server for processing?

Oh. I guess the driver can only be installed on the server then. In that case I have no idea why it might be taking 40 seconds to authorize... Slow connection for the workstations maybe?

well there connected to the same switches that every other workstation and printer is connected to.. hmmmm

Hey real quick.. would it hurt to copy and paste the hosts file from the server to the two new clients?
