Hi,

Due to non-flexibile behaviour of Windows XP Firewall, I want to replace it with a secure and flexible firewall, through which I would be able open a range of ports and to filter the traffic based on IP addresses. Please suggest me.

Regards,
Tayyab

I'd first try ZoneAlarm to see if it will do what you want. It's free, so you can experiment to get specifics of exactly what you need before you lay out any money. I know you can set IP adresses, but I don't know about individual ports. Better than XP, blocks both in and out.

Zone Alarm is good for a standard user, but for gamers it drains quite a lot of bandwidth. I found that if I had it running while playing Age of Mythology online (with all the right ports open etc.), I lagged horribly, but if I turned it off it played fine (1Mbps Connection).
