I am using MS Access from Office 2003. I'm a relative neophyte but have become pretty good with Access, at least for this one project -- in no small measure to my wife who teaches MS Office. But this one stumps her and me.
I have a database that I set up to collect responses to my high school reunion later this year. It has quite a few text and memo fields and a field defined as OLE object for a 1" wide x 1.5" high thumbnail photo. Using many IIFs in the query, I know how to eliminate space for any of the questionaire fields defined as memo that don't have any info, and to concatenate all of the remaining memo fields into one flowing text field for the report.
But I don't know how to eliminate the photo area, which appears to the right of the flowing text, when no photo has been submitted.
In other words, as of now whether there IS or IS NOT a photo, the flowing text is to the left of the area reserved for it and the person's entry in the report (the reunion booklet) will be a minimum of 1.5" deep even if not needed.
If there is no photo, I'd like the person's entry text to flow to the right margin and to take how ever much space it needs, whether 1.5" deep or less. Also, if the total text exceeds 1.5", I'd like the excess to flow to the right margin under the photo.
I don't know if one is able to paste a screen image in these posts or not. If it would help I would do so or upload to a website of mine. Awaiting a helpful solution to my dilemma. Thank you.
Bernie
