hi all,

Have a new server - 2000 Server SP4.

I do want updates to automatically download. but I don't want it to perform the reboot at 3am, which seems to be the default.

How can i turn off the auto. reboot?

We have nightly jobs running - I will do a manual reboot later.

Thanks, John

Start
Control Panel
Automatic Updates
Second option "Download updates but let choose when to install them"

Thats the way I use it on my Servers and then I just VNC into them on Saturday night to reboot if needed.

If your server is not being managed by group policy, what you can do is run the group policy editor locally (gpedit.msc) from there open Computer Configuration-->Administrative Templates right click on Administrative templates and click add-->select WUAU.ADM. This will add Windows update to your templates. Open Windows Updates and modify the "No auto-restart for schedule Automatic Updates installations" policy
