We have two exchange servers, one 2000, the other 2003 on our network, but everything is on the 2003 Exchange server (all mailboxes have been moved over, and maybe an offline folder address book is left on the 2000 server), so now this 2000 server is having errors and the stores are not available (can't even mount them; that choice is greyed out) and we want to remove this server. But, that 2000 server, b/c it was our first, is referenced in our firewall config, by an externally hosted email filter, and by network solutions for delivery of email. Is it easier to just change the address of the Exchange 2003 server to the old Exchange 2000 server after we take that old server offline? We'd remove the server through Exchange tasks first, but wanted to see if just a change of addresses would be easier than everything else... Any thoughts? Thanks!
