Want an AS/400 for learning 1

For many years I used RPG on 370 & 4300 mainframes. I also did some work on the side on a S/36. Now I'm a manager and have an RS/6000. Someday I plan to move back South and hope to find a job as just a programmer. So, I would like to buy a small AS/400 with an RPG compiler and any other compilers/utilities that I could use to train myself. I learned RPG on my on the first time so I think I could do it again on an AS/400. My question is - could some of you give me some ideas on an AS/400 that I could buy with the required software at a very low price? I know nothing about model numbers, OS levels, DASD & memory requirements, etc. I would appreciate some good guidance. I work at a college so if that helps in getting anything cheaper, please let me know. Thanks, John

Why spend all that money on a system... minium of a +5,000 dollar investment for new 170. You can find some on eBay, but you have to be careful many don't include an OS or developer tools which can cost a buch more. There are timeshares out there that are cheap and gives you what you need. Check my site site out for a couple:

We have an older model AS/400 that runs IBM software, however the software isn't included. We would be willing to sell this box for much less than the $5000 quoted in the previous response. If you are interested, please call me @ 812-482-5727 ext. 158.
