Hello,

We have a set up where we have 1 pub and 2 subs at one location then another site where we have 2 more nodes. Remote sites will register to both locations depending where they are located across the US. We'll be making calls across the WAN between sites using G.729. Is there a way to report how many calls go across the WAN vs across PSTN? I was thinking CDR, but we'll probably need a 3rd party software? This sound right or is there a better way to do this?

Also, is there way to report packet loss for WAN calls? Thanks for any info you can provide.

A quick/dirty method of seeing calls over the WAN is to use a RTMT. Under Performance, you can view number of calls in real time between Locations. So as long as the phones in each office are configured with their own location setting, the CUCM will keep track of the amount of bandwidth being used between locations. RTMT will also tell you the number of calls going over a particular PSTN gateway as well.

As for packet loss, the CDR system does store this information. But only in terms of percent lost. Actual packet count is not stored. You can pull this data in the CDR Analysis and Reporting page. 3rd party software will do a better job of sorting it out and alerting you to issues. As long as you have QoS all the way through your WAN and location bandwidth settings in the CUCM set to match, the CUCM should not allow call traffic to exceed available bandwidth and packet loss should not happen. At least that's the theory. :)

Great, I will take a look at it. Thank you
