Every time my PC goes in to screen saver mode and I come back to log in, the wallpaper is missing. I checked the properties (on the desktop) and it shows the active wallpaper, but all I see is a blue screen (no wallpaper). The image resides in C:\Windows as a Bitmap, but still nothing...

Any ideas???

That did not work :- ( , I tried that, and it seems to be something else spooking with the settings...

Try to copy paste the bmp you want for wallpaper into this folder

C:\WINDOWS\Web\Wallpaper

go to properties and choose the bmp for wallpaper but not from the browse button . It must be just the name of it on the list along with the default ones.

and go here

right click on desktop -> properties -> Desktop -> Customize Desktop -> Web

and make sure that nothing is checked

Good Luck

This is from a lost thread -

"I have however found the cause of the wallpaper change:
It's within the use of a third-party software - both I and my sister use ACDSee to set our wallpaper. ACDSee saves the wallpaper in a file call ACDSee wallpaper.bmp in the Windows directory. However, since we both used ACDSee, then we both share the same wallpaper file because ACDSee does not differentiate between different XP profiles.

So, my solution was simple. I've set my wallpaper through Internet Explorer rather than ACDSee.

Both applications have "Set to wallpaper" feature, but Internet Explorer recognizes the different XP profiles and is able to put different wallpaper for different accounts."

Wallpaper is "not on top"

we tried almost everything under the sun, and nothing seems to make a difference. The user even stated that when they were offline last week, the issue never came about, but it only seems to happen when he is online in his office, and the file is not pulling from a network share, and there are no policies in the OU (Active Dir) that he belongs to as it does not affect any other users. The odd thing is, you can see the wallpaper image when you look at the display properties on the desktop, but the desktop displays a blue background, until you switch to another image, and then switch back to the image he has and applies, then the wallpaper comes back for a short time. This also only happens when the user's screensaver kicks on.
