I have setup a fax on a DID line. The port and sta all test out OK, however when I attempt to dial I get waive off tones. Also sta sta shows "in-service/on hook OR disconnected"

The jack is split between an 8410D and the fax. The fax is on pr 4, and a pr 4 splitter.

I know this is something obvious but I am missing the mark.

First thing I would check is the COR set for the fax line. Make sure it did not default to a COR that does not allow calling.

I copied an existing fax station the COR is good for in/outbound calling.

I tried checking working faxes no change. One does have type as Modem rather than 2500, but the rest say 2500. Still I get waive off.

I tried calling Avaya, who said the programming is fine, but I changed ports and when I connect a but set to the patch cord connected only to the port in use, I still get waive off???

First check your wiring. ensure you can get dialtone at the jack, or at the port. Try to place a call to the fax from an both an inside & outside line.

Once you've checked the wiring, if you are sure your COR is OK, try removing the station and adding it from scratch. (recording your POR, jack etc).

I've run into this problem before where the switch doesn't want to duplicate the station.

Rem sta XXXX and add sta XXXX should solve the problem.

Here is a couple of things you might want to check since the programming looks right:
1. Is it the right station? An easy way to check is to dial an internal phone that has caller ID (like a 6400 series set or the operator).

2. Is the fax configured to dial a “9” or what ever you need to get an outside line automatically? Try to connect a regular analog phone to the line and dial a number. If it works with a regular phone, the fax is probably setup to automatically dial a prefix.

I hope this helps.
