I am trying to solve a problem on a Dell OptiPlex at our shop. One of the folks was trying to test that a USB logitec mouse was in working condition. For some reason it was not working on his machine. He plugged it into the USB port and then went to the add/remove hardware button on the control panel. He got to the screen that asked about the drivers and either cancelled out or set that the location was C:. Whenn the machine was rebooted, it started in safe mode. He then went to the Device manager and deleted the mouse being installed; thinking that this would fix the problem. Now the machine starts and during the boot says Lmouse.drv cannot be found, reinstall windows. Then shutsdown.

Is there a simpler way to fix this problem than reinstalling windods an then all the software?
I have his plegde to ask before he tries the next time.

Thanks in advance for you help and advice.

Windows 95 and a USB mouse? (I think only the last OSR2.5 version had any USB support - and that was unreliable).

What happens if you just plug a serial or PS/2 mouse back in?

Thanks to all! Starting without any mouse let me load the drivers from a floppy. The mouse doesnn't work, however, I don't care. I was just trying to get a functioning system back.
