There are three options, for the destination of a backup job: Group, Media Pool or Media. What is the destination in your job? If a media pool, try to assign media to the scratch set!

Hi , it is set to goto a group (we have a dat library). I tried all the options but it has made no difference.

Hi Stevie! In Device Menu, Configure Groups and Assign available Device (slots) to your group.

run a Quick Erase Plus on the tapes prior to running the backup.

I ran a quick erase, a quick erase plus and a full erase on all the tapes. I tried creating new groups and reallocated the slots.

I a final feat of disgust I reboot the server 3 times and on the 3rd reboot the error stiopped and the backup now runs fine!!!

I have no idea what caused it as I tried every solution I could fine for this error to no avail and now all is well.
